Last Saturday was held a greatly successful 1st water polo All Star Game at the venue of Glyfada in Greece, organised by the Hellenic Water polo Players Association.
It was a unique event for the sport which took place for the first time while most of the revenues were given to charities. Lots of people took advantage of the good weather and saw many of the top players from the Greek League to take part in what was called a "show game".
The two teams were devided in a squad named "Athens" and a team called "Rest of Greece ". The players were elected by the coaches of the first division teams who voted for seven players each with the limitation not to pick a player from their team and up to three players from another. Similarly coaches were elected by the captains of the first division clubs. Main target of the event was the promotion and development of the sport in Greece and HWPA wants this game to be an institution.
For the history 'Rest of Greece' won by 16-11 and the teams saw the following line-ups:
Athens: Deligiannis, Kapotsis, Delakas, Mourikis, Blanis, Theodoropoulos, Afroudakis Ch., Karountzos, Afroudakis G., Thomakos, Papadogkonas, Aggelidis, Tsalkanis, Kopeliadis.
Coaches: Kountoudios, Mavrotas.
Rest of Greece: Karampetsos, Mylonakis, Gouvis, Kokkinakis, Fountoulis, Chatzikiriakakis, Voulgarakis, Solanakis, Chrysospathis, Kolomvos, Komadina, Vlachopoulos, Flegkas, Chatzigoulas.
Coaches: Lorantos, Loudis.
