Serbia takes Baku 2015 men's gold
The Serbian men's national junior U17 team is Europe's best. In a close final of the first European Games in Baku on Sunday the Serbs held off Spain 7-8, thanks to consecutive goals in the third and fourth quarter. It marked the second finals loss for the Spanish teams as the women finished runner-up on Saturday falling to Russia.
In the men's final Spain finally managed to score cutting the deficit back to 1 with just 0.34 to go which proved to late as Serbia played out the clock and Spain could not take a shot in the final seconds. Marko Jankovic led the Serbian attack scoring three goals. Alex de la Fuente produced the same offence for runner-up Spain.
The same decision was made in a tense bronze medal match as Greece scored twice in a row in the 4th quarter to edge Croatia 10-11 and finish in 3rd place. Italy secured 5th place thanks to a clear 6-11 win over Russia in Sunday's classification match. 7th place was taken by Hungary who defeated Germany 6-15.
