However, Avramovic was not available yet this weekend and maybe that was for the best else he might have turned around.
Szolnok dominated the match from the start to finish and went up to an astonishing 11-0 lead until late in the 3rd quarter FTC finally found the back of the net. This was 1 of only 3 times the guests managed to beat Attila Decker who was on great form with an 82% saving record. The score finally settled at 18-3 and especially lefthander Márton Vámos and team captain Dániel Varga were on fire with 5 and 3 goals respectively.

With FTC dropping points there was a chance for Honvéd to finally get to that much wanted 4th spot if they could get the win away at BVSC. During the 1st period of the game it did not look very positive for Honvéd though. BVSC looked energized, motivated, and determined to redeem themselves for the poor results so far. Sadly for the couple 100 home fans they only kept up this appearance for 1 period and, after leading 2-1 earlier, suddenly were on the losing side again by the end of the 2nd. BVSC’s half-time team talk did not have the needed impact either and Honvéd carried the 4-goal lead to the finish line with ease. FTC and Honvéd each collected 27 points now but Honvéd have a much better goal average. Next weekend both teams will clash with 4th place as the prize!
Another great match waiting for us in round 13 (January 17) is Szolnok against OSC. We have seen this match-up 3 times already this season (Hungarian Cup final and Champions League qualification round 3) with 1 draw and 2 Szolnok victories as results and OSC will want to take revenge keep pressure on the league leaders.
This weekend’s match against UVSE was a nice warm up for the meeting of next week. The points never looked in danger with 12-5 at half time. Bence Bátori scored a game-high of 5 but it was powerful centre-back Erik Bundschuh who received the largest crowd reaction for his 2nd goal in the last second of the game to breach the 20-goal mark.

Earlier in the day Eger had already started off their 2015 campaign with a victory over hosts KSI in the Komjádi pool in Budapest. Defensively the reigning champions were very solid and allowed KSI only 3 goals. However, offensively they were sloppy and inaccurate. Against KSI it did not lead to any real damage yet, but away at Brescia coming Wednesday in the Champions League the aim must improve a lot to keep the dream alive. Good news is the return of team captain Peter Bíros, who showed a great bit of skill in the 4th period for Eger’s 10th goal, and national team centre-forward Bálazs Hárai who was good for 2 goals.
